Cookie policy
Thought Vault stores at most two optional cookies on your device. Names and behaviour are listed plainly below without dark patterns.
tv_consent remembers banner decisions including accept, reject, or split preferences for storage versus embeds.
tv_reading holds text size only when preference storage is allowed. It never logs which jot you opened.
Paths use slash root scope with six month lifetimes and SameSite=Lax plus Secure on HTTPS sessions.
Rejecting clears reading memory and blocks maps until you press show map for a one-time load per page.
Customise reveals two tick boxes controlled by buttons not forms. Save writes the combination you picked.
Footer cookie choices reopens the panel without deleting prior values until you save again.
Google may set separate cookies after embeds load. Deny embeds to avoid that class entirely.
Analytics pixels and social widgets are absent from templates by explicit design choice here.
Private browsing may discard values at session end causing the banner to reappear each visit.
Do-not-track headers do not change behaviour because optional storage already stays optional.
Safari partitioning may isolate storage yet pages stay readable at default medium size.
Corporate browsers blocking all cookies still render text while maps remain placeholders.
Audit storage using developer tools on desktop or site settings on mobile operating systems.
Policy edits appear with footer build stamps when wording tracks real behaviour changes.
Mail [email protected] with thoughtvault.life in the subject for clarification requests.
Short cookie names reduce bytes on repeat requests. Values exclude names or email strings.
Shared devices should clear site data after use so later users inherit no size preference.
Allowed maps may write vendor storage governed by Google policies not mine.
Behaviour changes get documented here before deployment whenever feasible for readers.
Banner buttons remain keyboard reachable without focus traps locking the tab order.
Duration math uses seconds internally though interfaces show rounded calendar dates.
Static hosting serves files only. No PHP executes and no server session table exists.
Cookie table row one: tv_consent, strictly necessary, remembers your cookie choice, written immediately on accept reject or save, lifetime one hundred eighty days, set by this site.
Cookie table row two: tv_reading, preferences, remembers reading comfort size one to three, written only when preferences allowed, lifetime one hundred eighty days, set by this site.
There is no Google Analytics, Tag Manager, advertising pixel, fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking on thoughtvault.life.
Every page shows a neighbourhood map. Switching embedded maps off replaces iframes with placeholders and a show map button for the current visit only.
Clear cookies in browser settings and the banner returns because the record of your choice is gone.
With JavaScript disabled the banner does not appear and this site writes no cookies at all.
A rejection is remembered in the strictly necessary cookie so the question is not asked on every page load.
This is a personal blog. Views are my own and notes are not professional advice.
Accept all sets both preference and embed flags to allowed and hides the banner immediately without reload.
Reject all sets both flags to denied, removes any reading cookie, and hides the banner while remembering the rejection.
Customise reveals reading preferences and embedded maps as separate tick boxes with save controlled by a button outside any form.
Strictly necessary row in the panel is static markup explaining that consent storage is always on; it is not one of the two real inputs.
Reading preferences checkbox defaults off on first open so visitors opt in rather than opt out of storage.
Embedded maps checkbox defaults off on first open for the same reason, though maps render by default until a choice is saved.
Change choices anytime via Cookie choices in the footer.
Reject all still writes the consent cookie so the banner does not repeat every page.
Google Maps cookies are disclosed here and on the privacy page.
No analytics run on this domain.
Strictly necessary storage records reject decisions as well as accept decisions.
Preference storage never tracks which note titles you open on the site.
Embedded maps load by default until you switch them off in the banner or panel.
Show map buttons load tiles for the current visit only without writing new cookies.
Browser private mode may discard values at session end and show the banner again.
Shared devices should clear site data after reading so later users inherit no size preference.
Cookie names stay short to reduce overhead on repeat page requests across the site.
Values exclude email addresses, names, and message content because those fields do not exist here.
Customise opens a panel with two real checkboxes outside any form element as specified.
Save choices writes the combination you selected and hides the banner without reloading.
Footer reopen controls display current values so edits do not require clearing storage first.
Google tile cookies after embed consent fall under Google policies linked from their documentation.
With JavaScript disabled no banner appears and this site writes no cookies on your device.
